Samsung smart watches are failures, the company knows this, and that is why it released a second generation version six months after the first one, and if rumors are legitimate, the Korean company is currently working on another.

This rumored smart watch from Samsung is very different from the others, since it doesn't require being tethered to a smartphone to make or receive calls. It's practically a phone built into a watch, something that could turn heads if Samsung is able to do it right... the first time.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung aims to reveal this smart watch sometime between June and July, though there's no certainty on when the company plans to make it available for sale. Chances are; it could find itself on store shelves in September to counter anything that might come from Apple.

Samsung's current smart watch devices such as the Galaxy Gear line, is required to be tethered to a smartphone send and receive messages, along with having the ability to perform basic tasks. A smart watch that doesn't require being tied down to a secondary device should be seen a true smart watch, and Samsung could be well on its way on making this happen.

This proposed smart watch will continue the trend of running Tizen and not Android. If this is the case, then it is clear Samsung no longer wishes to tether itself so close to Android and Google, which could turn out to be a huge problem for the search company since Samsung is the largest player in the Android market.

The Wall Street Journal claims this smart watch will be able to take photos, send and receive emails independently. It will also come equipped with a heart monitor for those who exercise on a regular basis.

Samsung's goal here is to become a big player in the smart watch market, and it is willing to do so by flooding the market with several devices until the right approach is found. Whether or not this brute force plan will work for Samsung in the long run is remained to be seen. However, at the moment Samsung is the only player making a massive push to control this potential lucrative market.
