Samsung is planning to officially announce the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus on August 13. Images of the Galaxy Note 5's retail packaging have been posted online, confirming the phablet's specs.

Apple is expected to unveil its next-generation iPhones at an event that's rumored to take place on Sept. 9. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are expected to feature the same design as the current iPhone 6 and 6 Plus but feature a new Force Touch display, faster 64-bit A9 processor, and improved 12-megapixel camera. The iPhone 6s Plus is going to be going head to head with Samsung's soon to be released Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which are expected to be unveiled at the company's Unpacked event on August 13.

The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will likely go on sale shortly after Samsung's event, as images of the Galaxy Note 5's retail packaging have appeared online. The pictures show a white minimalist design and confirm the smartphone's specs, which are listed on the back of the box and line up with recently leaked specs sheets .

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will feature a 5.7-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad HD Super AMOLED display and 32GB of internal storage, 64GB and 128GB options are also expected to be offered. The phablets will be powered by a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos processor and 4GB of RAM, Its camera capabilities will consist of a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and 5-megapixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies.

The Note 5 will support wireless charging out of the box, although you'll need to supply a compatible wireless charging pad. The handset is expected to run Android 5.1.1, have an improved S Pen with auto-eject feature, and pack in a large non-removable 4,100 mAh  battery.
