Former LulzSec hacker, Hector Xavier Monsegur, otherwise known as "Sabu" could walk out of prison a free man on Tuesday. This is because did a fine job as an informant who helped to avert more than 300 cyber-attacks.

If everything goes well for Monsegur, he could be spared a long prison term, and from many accounts, it appears the feds will let him off the hook. He was on the verge of spending 21 to 26 years in prison after he violated a plea bargain and made unauthorized online postings.

"Monsegur's consistent and corroborated historical information, coupled with his substantial proactive cooperation and other evidence developed in the case, contributed directly to the identification, prosecution, and conviction of eight of his major co-conspirators, including Hammond, who at the time of his arrest was the FBI's number one cybercriminal target in the world," stated in the sentencing memo.

Monsegur has only spent 7 months in prison since he was captured back in 2012. The government is quite impressed with his work as an informant. We have reasons to believe nothing will stop him from walking out a free man. Chances are there might be some rules and regulations he must follow once he's a free man, but we're not certain what these are.

Monsegur was a top leader of LulzSec back in the good ole days. The group was notorious for hacking several websites, along with exploits that involve Sony, U.S. Senate, FBI partner Infraguard and even the CIA. Many individuals on the Internet loved the group along with Anonymous, as they were seen as doing a worthy cause. Moreover, as you might have already realized, anything that goes against the government is a win in the eyes of many.

The big question right now is what will Monsegur do after he's a free man. No doubt there are quite a few companies ready and waiting to give him a second chance at life. Who knows, the man might even get a call from the NSA, as the agency is in dire need of hackers after claims of Chinese hacker attacks are on the rise.
