Microsoft's much touted Windows 10 is encountering several hiccups along the way as reports of users encountering streaming and lagging issues with YouTube and Netflix emerge.

After updating to Windows 10, several users have begun experiencing problems with video streaming, which prevent them from watching videos smoothly. Users who have upgraded to Windows 10 have taken to the Microsoft Community forum to vent their displeasure.

They claim that, while watching videos, the sound races ahead of the video clip, or everything turns green. Some users even complain of video lags and the inability to stream the videos from the latest Microsoft Edge browser.

Users who have upgraded to Windows 10 rant that they are plagued with issues of videos on Netflix or YouTube experiencing lags or not streaming.

"I had updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Every time I go to watch something either on YouTube or Netflix the video either doesn't work or starts late with the sound going ahead of it. Sometimes there is just green screen with blue and red boxes. I hope they fix this problem because I'm beginning to regret updating to Windows 10. I have even installed the latest Adobe Flash Player and that didn't work," complained a user on the community.

Interestingly, users reveal that local videos seems to be playing normally.

"[I'm] having similar problems after updating to Windows 10. Video streaming (flash or html) on YouTube, Netflix, et cetera, [causes] stuttering or lagging in different browsers: Edge, Chrome, Firefox. Playing local videos appears to be OK," noted user junks77.

The problem, it seems, is more rampant when it comes to the new Microsoft Edge browser than Chrome, as users share on the forum.

"I have a similar problem—I can't stream from Netflix on Edge without some serious stutter and freezing. The first time, it caused a BSOD—I hadn't seen that since Vista. It somehow worked after I updated all my drivers, but now, a day later, it's back to square one. Sadly, Chrome had no problem playing videos. Please fix this," said another user who upgraded to Windows 10.

The issue at hand sounds like a graphic driver problem at first glance. Despite updating the driver, some people continue to battle the issues.

"I am having the same problem running Netflix; it loads then stutters with a strange sound then reloads; does this continually; reloads again. I tried updating the driver but it did not help," revealed an irate user.

Since no specific pattern seems to exist for the issue plaguing users, it is difficult to zone in on what is causing the video streaming lags or the failure to work at all after updating to Windows 10.

Microsoft's support engineer acknowledges the issue on the forum and advises users to alert them if the issue pertains to just online videos or those in their system as well. The company suggests users run troubleshooting techniques and check for available Windows Updates then install the same. This would likely fix the issue.
