Verizon will be getting the HTC One mini 2 in the near future and will rename it the 'HTC One Remix'. The smartphone offers an aluminum case, 720p display and more.

HTC has been hot on the trail of Samsung's smartphone lineup. Last year it introduced the HTC One mini in response to Samsung's Galaxy S4 Mini. The two smartphones offered a similar design, lower end specs and lower pricing than their flagship siblings.

A few weeks ago, HTC beat Samsung to market when it officially announced the HTC One mini 2. Just as its name implies, the HTC One mini 2 is a smaller version of the current flagship HTC One M8. It features the same premium unibody aluminum case that helped the smartphone receive top honors in our review of the HTC One M8.

The always-reliable tipster, evleaks has tweeted an image of  Verizon's HTC One mini 2, which Verizon is reportedly planning on naming the HTC One Remix.

The HTC One mini 2/Remix follows in the footsteps of the HTC One M8. It's made out of a premium aluminum unibody case that feels great in the hands and its 4.5-inch 720p display is among the best. It has retained the excellent sounding front facing dual-stereo speakers with HTC BoomSound found on the One M8. The handset runs Android 4.4.2 under an updated version of HTC Sense. The handset is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone will ship with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128GB microSD cards. The HTC One Remix won't keep the M8's Duo Camera, instead it will boast a 13-megapixel rear camera that has the ability to record 1080p Full HD video @ 30fps and a 5-megapixel front facing camera that has been tweaked to help users get the best possible selfie. In terms of wireless connectivity, you'll find a 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. Its 2,100 mAh battery that will allow up to 16.2 hours of talk time.

There's no mention of a specific release date but most reports claim it will go on sale in the next few weeks. We'll let you know once we do, naturally.
