Although he was not featured in the footage previewed at D23 in Anaheim, Spider-Man will apparently get some good on-screen time in the upcoming Marvel movie powerhouse, Captain America: Civil War.

However, as revealing his role may spoil some major plot lines in the film, we warn you ahead of time that the reports detailed here may give away important details in the film. Proceed at your own discretion.

Fans figured that Spidey would simply be making a cameo appearance in the upcoming film. After all, it was a feat in itself for Spidey, licensed by Sony, to appear in a Marvel movie with the other Avengers at all.

But, if on-set reports are to be believed, actor, Tom Holland, who will play the latest on-screen incarnation of Spider-Man, has already filmed most of his scenes on a set in Atlanta, Georgia, and is now in Germany to shoot another pivotal scene – specifically, a show-down between him and Chris Evans' Captain America.

Tom Holland has reportedly been on the job long enough to undergo quite a few costume changes so far when he was on set for filming, which leads many to believe that Spidey will be playing a more significant role in the film than merely a cameo.

In fact, even before Holland won the coveted role of the new Spider-Man, it was rumored that the fully masked hero was able to start filming some scenes for the movie because they didn't actually require an actor to don the costume.

If the movie stays true to the Civil War comic source material, then Spider-Man, who originally sides with Tony Stark on the Pro-Registration team, defects to Steve Rogers' side after he learns of the darker side of the reforms he became part of.

No word yet if this is indeed the direction Spider-Man's appearance in the film will be taking or how pivotal or major his fight scenes with Captain America will be.

Whatever his role, big or small, all will be revealed when the heroes choose their side in Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016.
