Samsung is planning to go head to head with Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini with its 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch 2560 x 1600 AMOLED display Galaxy Tab S. New press images of both slates have leaked.

Samsung promised it would put more focus on its tablet lineup in 2014 and the company has made good. It has launched several new tablets, including both the Galaxy TabPRO and Galaxy NotePRO series. The company has scheduled a 'Tab into Colour' press event on June 12. The event will reportedly center on the company's upcoming AMOLED equipped and high-end Galaxy Tab S tablets.

The company has been trying to keep the 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S under wraps, so it would be able to show the world its latest tablets, unfortunately for Samsung, the always-reliable evleaks has posted final press images for both slates.

Evleaks posted images of both the 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S and its smaller sibling, the 8.4-inch Galaxy Tab S. The tablet's defining feature is its gorgeous and very high-resolution 2560 x 1600 AMOLED display. These resolutions edge out Apple's iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display, which pack in 2048 x 1536 resolution displays.

Samsung will also beat Apple in terms of releasing its Galaxy Tab S tablets with a fingerprint scanner embedded in its home button, just like the Galaxy S5. Apple's new iPads, which are expected in the fall, will reportedly get the iPhone 5s' Touch ID feature.

As previously mentioned the Galaxy Tab S will use 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch AMOLED displays and will be powered by an octa-core Exynos 5420 processor along with a Mali-T628 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 3GB of RAM. The tablets will both run the latest version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat and will run Samsung's new Magazine UX. The slates will also include some of the Galaxy S5's new software features, like 'Ultra Power Saving Mode', 'Download Booster', and Pay Pal authorization via its fingerprint scanner.

Both tablets are also expected to use an 8-megapixel rear camera and 2.1-megapixel front facing camera.  In terms of storage, you can expect 32GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128GB microSD cards.

We'll update you on any new Galaxy Tab S information as it becomes available.
