With four days full of cosplay, picking up comics and video games, and checking out panels, it's safe to assume that people are already getting ready for New York Comic-Con this fall. And what better way to celebrate the convention than by sipping on its official annual beer?

Brooklyn Brewery and ReedPOP, the world's largest producer of pop culture events, have announced the launch of this year's official beer for New York Comic-Con 2015: the Brooklyn Defender IPA.

Each year's beer showcases a new superhero, who is pictured on its label. This year, the fourth installment of the exclusive brew will feature a Brooklyn superhero designed by artist Khary Randolph.

Known for his work on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spider-Man and X-Men, Randolph's latest superhero reflects the sports and hip hop culture of neighborhoods like Ft. Green and Clinton Hill. Called The Brooklyn Defender, he has bulging muscles, sports white, red and black sneakers and a hooded cape, and is here to save people from bland-tasting beers.

"The Brooklyn Defender uses his athleticism and other skills to defend beer and all those who stand behind it," Randolph said in a press release.

This year's beer is a more reddish IPA that is sharp, bright, and has "a little more funk," as Garrett Oliver, Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery says in a trailer video for the 2015 Brooklyn Defender beer.

"When I look at the character, what I see is righteousness in motion," Oliver elaborated.

The official beer of New York Super Week and this year's New York Comic-Con will be introduced at a release party to be held at Brooklyn Brewery on September 9. The beer will come bottled and on tap.

The Brooklyn Defender IPA will then be available in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut in September, followed by the first-ever national distribution to more than 20 states later in the year.

The 10th Edition of New York Comic-Con takes place October 8 through 11 at the Jacob Javits Center.
