Forza Motorsport 6 will have gamers revving up behind the wheel of some of the most impressive, supercars in the world.

But before it can look forward to unleashing 460 Forzavista cars on 26 world-renowned tracks via its September 15 release, Forza Motorsport 6 is looking back. In its new commercial, released Friday (September 4), the highly-anticipated title pays homage to some of the most-classic racing video games of yesteryear including Gran Trak 10 (Atari, 1974), Pole Position (Bandai Namco 1982), RC Pro Am (Rare, 1987), Chase HQ (Taito, 1988), and Ridge Racer (Bandai Namco, 1993).

Gamers of a certain age—especially those born in the early 1980s—should recall the integration of some of these classic racing games in this commercial, which tips its hat to the originators by including their sound effects and even pixelated vehicles and graphics.

The commercial stars the 2017 Ford GT ultra-high-performance supercar, which will be available in Forza Motorsport 6, maneuvering past vehicles from the classic titles. Those who grew up playing of the aforementioned games will especially take pleasure with their inclusion in this ad in 2015.

According to reports, Xbox was able to place the new Ford GT alongside the pixelated old-school vehicles and tracks by photographing an actual prototype of the 2017 vehicle, which was suspended with a hydraulic rig. The effort was more than worth it, as quite an incredible ad was the end result.

With the release of the game's demo Thursday (September 3), Friday's commercial reveal is only likely to generate further interest in the upcoming title. Rev up your engines at the red light for 11 more days until the September 15 release date rolls around.
