Mario and Grand Theft Auto: two very different video game franchises that will never, ever cross over. GTA is all about criminals robbing banks, jacking cars, doing drugs and (occasionally) beating up prostitutes.

Mario, on the other hand, is about collecting coins, jumping across platforms and (occasionally) beating up Goombas. These two games cannot go together.

That is, unless you mod Grand Theft Auto V, of course. Then, you can do anything you want, including giving the player character a giant Mario head, a red shirt, white gloves and a go-cart.

YouTuber TheGuitarJammer has taken everybody's favorite Italian plumber and dropped him in the cruel world of GTA V's Los Santos. Turns out Mario Kart in GTA looks much different from what we are used to, as Mario speeds over innocent civilians, runs away from the cops and throws Molotov cocktails instead of green shells.

It's really the music that completes this video. Hearing the cheerful Mario music as this terrifying "real-world" version of Mario goes on a rampage through the city is strangely entertaining, even if it also feels terribly, terribly wrong.

This, of course, isn't the first time fans have inserted family-friendly characters into Rockstar's M-rated open world title. Fans recently modded the game to recreate the opening of a Scooby-Doo episode, and a recent Pokemon video still has fans of Nintendo's Pocket Monsters wishing they hadn't watched.

Rockstar will be bringing the video editor mode from GTA V PC to consoles in the near future, so expect plenty more bizarre videos to come.
