Go ahead—take a look at this collage of NFL jerseys and you'll notice that it's littered with great players.

Hall of Famers such as Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Emmitt Smith, John Elway, Hall of Fame-bound stars like Brett Favre, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady and perennial Pro Bowlers alike are all represented on this chart.

But the one jersey that stands out like a sore thumb on Mitchell & Ness's Best Players by Number: Gridiron Edition is that of a player who doesn't belong—No. 2 Matt Ryan. The Internet came down hard on Mitchell & Ness for putting the Atlanta Falcons quarterback alongside some of the game's all-time greatest players on this sea of jerseys.

The website Bro Bible even joked with its readers asking them to guess the player who doesn't belong, offering the hint, "his jersey number rhymes with poo and his name rhymes with Ratt Myan." But as the same website later stated, it's really not Mitchell & Ness's fault.

The throwback jersey maker was simply going by the numbers when putting together this list and attaching Matt Ryan to No. 2 was the best the digit offered. Or was it?

Upon rolling up our sleeves, Tech Times actually stumbled upon the name Charley Trippi, runningback/quarterback for the then-Chicago Cardinals and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Giving M&N the benefit of the doubt, Trippi also wore the number 62, before switching to 2, so maybe that disqualified him from being represented on this chart.

If not, though, never too late to make that Photoshop that Trippi jersey in this chart. Or...they can stick with Ryan. For what it's worth, he did make the Pro Bowl last season.
