Marvel movie fans know how to pick apart a film. Because each movie is laced with Easter eggs and clues to future Marvel Cinematic films, there aren't a whole lot of surprises that stay hidden for long.
It's for that reason director James Gunn's recent words are causing fans to throw Guardians of the Galaxy into their Blu-ray player and watch the movie for the fifteenth time: he says there is still a big Easter egg that has yet to be found.
Gunn dropped the news on Facebook over the weekend when he was sharing Guardians of the Galaxy facts and trivia with fans. One fan politely asked if all the Easter eggs in the movie had been found. Gunn had previously said some secrets still remained, so the fan was wondering when the Easter eggs might be revealed.
Gunn took the time to answer the question (along with those of many other fans). This is what he had to say:
"They have not all been found. No one has found the big one, really. Maybe once someone came close."
What does it all mean? How is it possible that Marvel fans have yet to find "the big one" in Guardians of the Galaxy? It just doesn't seem like something that could be real. The way Gunn phrased his answer seems to indicate that there may be several other Easter eggs that have yet to be uncovered as well. Considering how exhaustive some of these Easter egg lists are, it's seriously impressive (and kind of scary) that there are still secrets waiting to be revealed.
Gunn however doesn't give any additional clues as to what the Easter egg might be. Is it a funny gag? A reference to a comic book? A hint of things to come in future Marvel films? He doesn't elaborate, but rest assured there are plenty of fans who will be analyzing every frame of the movie in the coming days. Perhaps all will be revealed soon.
