The LG Nexus 5X leaked online in a purported Mint Green color option, but it seems just a case of bad color correction for the White version.

Google is widely expected to unveil two new Nexus smartphones this year, one made in collaboration with Huawei and the other with LG. The latter has been unofficially dubbed the LG Nexus 5X (2015) and is the smaller of the two, rumored to make its official debut on Sept. 29.

Newly-leaked images of the purported LG Nexus 5X now show the smartphone in a Mint Green color option, but it may in fact not be a new color variant after all. Instead, it could just be the White version of the smartphone. The latest leak comes from Korean website UnderKG and in addition to the purported Mint Green back shell, it also includes a second photo that shows the front of the device. Looking at the color of the floor in both images, it's obviously different although it seems the same setting (see image above). If you apply some color correction to the photo of the Mint Green LG Nexus 5X photo so the color of the floor matches the one in the second image of the front of the device, the Mint Green avatar actually becomes white, as 9to5Google points out.

A white color option for the upcoming Nexus smartphone seems more plausible, especially considering previous Nexus iterations. While it's true that the existing Nexus 5 launched in black and white avatars at first and later received a red color option as well, it seems unlikely that Google would offer various hues such as Mint Green for the new generation. Nevertheless, it's not impossible either.

It's also worth pointing out that a recent report from Android Authority claimed that the LG Nexus 5X (2015) will also come in a blue color option, in addition to the black and white variants.

Aside from color options, the LG Nexus 5X (2015) is expected to feature a 5.2-inch Full HD display (1920 x 1080 pixels), which means that it will have a lower resolution than the current QHD Nexus 6. Other rumored specs for the upcoming Nexus 5X include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, Adreno 418 graphics, 3GB of RAM, a 12.3-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, a 2,700 mAh battery and a USB Type-C port, among the highlights.

In terms of pricing, the new-generation Nexus 5 will reportedly be more expensive than the original Nexus 5, coming in at $399 for the 16GB version and $499 for the 32GB variant.

With nothing officially confirmed, however, it's highly advisable to take everything with a hefty grain of salt for now.
