States that have legalized cannabis have been reaping the rewards of a surge in profits from the little leaf. With this, unofficial celebrity endorsements for marijuana are being launched on a new social media and lifestyle platform.

Snoop Dogg, along with his business partner, Ted Chung, launched the pot-centered Merry Jane network on the first day of Disrupt SF 2015. The site aims to be the source for entertainment, health and news editorials for all things about marijuana as well as be a go-to information source for those seeking the perfect type of leaf, bud, flower or oil for their specific needs.

Calvin Broadus, the rapper better known as Snoop Dogg, is no stranger to the tech startup scene. In addition to volunteering to step up as the new CEO for Twitter in June, Snoop has invested in other startups centered on cannabis via his fund called Casa Verde Capital. He is also an investor in Robinhood, a free stock trading platform, which is also supported by the new Joker, actor Jared Leto.

"I was investing on creativity. Then it became more business. Then it was things that I liked, for example the cannabis industry," Snoop said of his enthusiasm in investing in weed related ventures.

According to Snoop and Chung, Merry Jane will be an encyclopedia and so much more of the cannabis world.

Merry Jane will feature cannabis cooking shows and a "Deflowered" series, a clip of which was presented during the startup convention. It will show ordinary people lighting up and sharing their experiences of the first time they got high on marijuana.

Snoop and Chung were also hands-on in curating the weed dispensaries that are listed on their platform but said that they will make it possible for growers and suppliers to update and upload their own menus and maintain their own digital storefronts in the near future.

Currently, Merry Jane is being opened up to beta testers who received invites to join the site and is expected to be opened up to the public within a few days.

All good times, man.
