Good news for Samsung smartphone owners who subscribe to AT&T: the network operator has started pushing out the much-awaited Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the flagship Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 smartphones.

AT&T began rolling out the Android 5.1.1 update on Saturday, Sept. 26, and will bring users who are on Android 5.0.2 up to date. The information comes courtesy of an Android Central report.

The publication divulges that the software update weighs 660 MB and brings a few enhancements to the smart phones, including the arrival of the Samsung Pay feature and user interface tweaks. The icons seem to have changed and are similar to those on the Galaxy Note 5.

AT&T is yet to post the changelog of the update, but it is assumed that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is being rolled out to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in anticipation of the launch of Samsung Pay on Monday, Sept. 28.

Several carriers have also been pushing out updates to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones in preparation for the arrival of Samsung Pay. We recently reported that T-Mobile also released an update for the handsets as it prepped for Samsung Pay's launch.

Users who have already received the update reveal that it also includes live broadcasting, which enables a user to stream live video to YouTube directly from the camera. Another feature brought by the update is Ultra High Quality (UHQ) audio, which upscales or restores sound quality closer to the original sound.

"It's 5.1.1 folks. Samsung Pay, [n]ew icons, live broadcasting, UHQ audio, and a big performance boost. Phone is very snappy," noted a user.

However, some users are complaining of issues with the battery and reveal that it gets drained out after the update.

"I installed the update yesterday and overall my phone runs MUCH better, multitasking is greatly improved and I've noticed I typically have much lower system RAM usage than I had previously on 5.0.2. I did turn on Enhanced LTE and it still is draining my battery by quite a bit, I went to sleep last night at 59 percent and woke up at 36 percent, battery manager listed Cell Standby at 31 percent battery used. I also tried and was unable to enable UHQ Upscaler audio, not sure why that's the case. The option is simply grayed out," complained a user on the XDA forums.

Some Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users are also facing problems with the update's installation. They try to install the software update repeatedly to no avail and get an error message each time.

The update is being pushed out in phases and will likely make its way to your AT&T Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets soon. Those who have not yet received the OTA update can look for it manually. To do so, go to Settings > About Device > Software Update.
