Bungie seems to have piled on secrets into Destiny to keep players on their toes. For the past two weeks, players have been scrambling to uncover the relics and triggers that will let them attain one of the secret weapons that Destiny previously announced during a marketing blitz: the Sleeper Simulant.

The elusive weapon is said to be a heavy fusion rifle that shoots bouncing projectiles.

Many theories are floating around Destiny forums, and a subreddit has already been established to help players exchange their thoughts on how to go about triggering the quest to help them put together the mysterious weapon.

So far, the only official description and clue that players can go on is what Bungie told Game Informer.

According to the interview, the Sleeper Simulant may only be obtained after collecting certain Golden Age relics scattered all over the Destiny universe. Once all the pieces have been gathered, players bring them back to the Tower's gunsmith. This triggers a memory in the Exo gunsmith, so he invites players on an odyssey to repair and reactivate an exotic from The Taken King.

However, Bungie didn't give any more details than that lest it spoils the story for players who want to try obtaining the Sleeper Simulant. The team only said players will definitely want to get their hands on this heavy hitter, if only to see its laser that "bounces off walls and kills a lot of guys."

Try as they might, so far no one player has yet to trigger the event properly with the gunsmith.

As revealed in a secret side mission we reported on last week, perhaps Destiny still has a few more secrets and triggers to set off before players can finally get their hands on this extra special weapon.

In the meantime, players have been going on a wild goose hunt with theories ranging from a delayed button response being a clue, to the weapon possibly being linked to an Artificial Intelligence that really loves Russian ballet.

Whatever way players eventually get their hands on the Sleeper Simulant, it sure is already turning out to be an engaging mystery that has everyone stumped.
