No, it's not the set of Middle-earth for a new Peter Jackson movie. Hundreds of Lord of the Rings fans took their cosplaying and live action role playing (LARP) to a whole new epic scale when they recreated a battle from the fantasy series out in the countryside of the Czech Republic.

The game called Bitva o Fort, or The Battle of The Fort, was acted out in September when players became part of Tolkien's Middle-earth and became human soldiers, elves, dwarves, or even orcs as they recreated a battle that took place long before The Fellowship of The Ring or The Hobbit.

The Bitva o Fort took place at Fort Radikov, which provided the perfect backdrop that seemed straight out of the pages of Tolkien's novels.

The mock battle was photographed and chronicled by photographer Daniela Bogarová, whose eye for great shots clearly made the game seem even more realistic. She has posted her work on the Facebook event page and it is clear the amount of dedication and work it took to put all the costumes and make-up together for the extraordinary battle was worth the effort of riding out into the hot summer sun in full battle gear and prosthetics.

This is no Medieval Faire. The hitting is real, although only prop weapons are used. There's even a lot of fake blood and battle wounds on the corpses strewn out all over the fort to get an almost real sense that you're actually walking through a battle for Middle-earth.

The scale of the Bitva o Fort can be compared with annual Battle of Gettysburg Civil War re-enactments in the United States. Great care is also put into that yearly event to ensure that the costumes, replica weapons and props used on the battlefield are historically accurate.
