Sony announced Concept for Android, which first ran from July 27 to Sept. 13. Now the company is set to allow 10,000 beta testers to try the Marshmallow edition for Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact.

Sony fans will be able to install Android 6.0 Marshmallow on their Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact devices. The company hopes to make this new trial a success just like the first one, allowing its developers to "be more responsive" regarding Android upgrades for Xperia users.

"The software is built on some of the key feedback from our first 'Concept for Android' - the users helped us create an experience built on the fundamentals of: prolonged battery life, smooth and fast performance, sleek user interface, Sony apps and experiences and frequent, timely updates," Sony posted on its blog.

But since Sony is only letting 10,000 users get a chance to try it out, those who want to participate will have to download Sony's Concept for Android on the Play Store and sign up quickly.

Aside from the device restriction, the program is only available to select countries. According to Sony, only Xperia users from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Ireland and the United Kingdom will get to enjoy the offer.

Applicants who successfully sign up will get a notification soon. It is expected that the Concept for Android: Marshmallow Edition will roll out by mid-October.

The first concept, however, was intended to cater to only 500 Sweden Xperia fans, which is a pretty small number compared to the upcoming one, not to mention that the firmware for the original program was eventually leaked, allowing individuals outside of it to get their hands on it. This means that users who are bummed out from being left out of the program have a high chance to enjoy it as well.

Despite users from excluded countries expressing their disappointment, a majority of Sony fans voiced out their positive opinions about the impending concept, saying that it is a great move by the company.
