Season 6 of AMC's The Walking Dead premiered on Sunday night, proving to be a feast for the eyes since there was no shortage of zombies being taken on by Rick Grimes and his gang of survivors.

Episode one, titled "First Time Again" started the season off with a bang, living up to what executive producer Robert Kirkman said would be the "most intense" season yet," as the survivors and residents of Alexandria devised a plan to push tens of thousands of walkers away from their walled community. Fans got to see some head-smashing zombie action while they did that.

However, just when it looked like their plan would be successful, a mysterious horn sounded, which attracted the undead to come right for their safe haven.

"You're left in the last 30 seconds with this real cliffhanger. The last 30 seconds propel the next eight episodes," actor Andrew Lincoln (who plays Rick Grimes), told USA Today, adding that our questions "will be answered imminently."

In a promo for next week's episode, titled "JSS," we see the residents of Alexandria in full-on panic as they face a new problem.

While we don't know for sure what "JSS" means, it could stand for "Just Stay Still," a phrase that was used by the Wolves in the season 5 finale.

It could be that the Wolves were behind the horn, as they have now come to Alexandria for blood.

Kirkland was right; this season will continue to bring on the action. In the promo, we see that pretty much everyone is armed and on guard. We see Spencer shooting at someone as a girl screams in the background. Carol (Melissa McBride) then tells Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) to make sure Judith is safe as she leaves the house with gun in hand to take on whatever enemy has come to their community. Maggie Green (Lauren Cohan) and Deanna Monroe (Tovah Feldshuh) are seen running with their weapons, Deanna looking shocked beyond belief.

There is then a short montage of snippets of scenes, like Jessie hiding in a closet and someone bleeding badly. Carol also declares she won't let "them" get into the house, which may further confirm that they "they" are indeed the Wolves.

The official episode synopsis is as follows:

"When it appears that things are starting to normalize in the settlement, a new problem arises for the Alexandrians."

In another sneak peek for "JSS," we see Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) feeling guilty about saying that Rick and his gang should not be trusted. He confronts Carl (who is taking a walk with baby Judith), telling him exactly what he told Deanna in Season 5. We can tell that Carl won't let him off that easy, so we'll have to see if the father will receive forgiveness after he comes clean to everybody.

The Walking Dead airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. EDT on AMC. Check out the season 6, episode 2 promo below.
