In anticipation of Back to the Future Day on Oct. 21, the 30th anniversary of the release of director Robert Zemeckis' classic time-traveling trilogy, online fan-channel Grand Theft Auto Series Videos has joined forces with the GTA V Rockstar Editor feature to create a tribute video to the antics of Doc Brown and Marty McFly (with the help of the flux capacitor, of course).

The video homage can technically be considered a mashup—using audio from the BTTF movies and GTA V's celebrated graphics to recreate the iconic, slightly truncated scene where Marty (and viewers) are first introduced to the DeLorean that will change Marty's life (and the past, present and future) forever. And while the avatars for the characters aren't necessarily dead-ringers for Marty and Doc, the gist—and the spirit—are there.
