Nextbit touts the Robin smartphone as a "smarter smartphone" because of its unique cloud-based feature.

The device was first launched last month as a Kickstarter campaign and had successfully raised more than $1.3 million prior to the project's closing date. Users who missed backing up the campaign will now have the chance to get their hands on the device which is now available for preorder.

The Robin smartphone is a mid-range Android device that's uniquely designed with cloud storing feature. Any app or photo that the user hasn't used for a while is automatically stored in the cloud so long as the device is power connected and is covered by a local WiFi network. While its cloud storage capacity reaches up to 100GB, it's also built with an onboard storage of 32GB. The phone also has the capacity to discern what type of space is needed as opposed to the one which is not.

This dual storage feature allows the device to seamlessly organize data which can come in handy when the device's offline storage begins to wear thin. The phone can easily free up some space by placing the less popular apps and media on a cloud-storage space which the user can access anytime he wants.

As Tech Times reported early in September, "Tapping on a removed app re-downloads and installs it from the Nextbit cloud and re-merges it with the personal data you have on your phone: hassle-free."

In turn, the user can do away with the issues commonly brought by limited phone storage. It even eliminates the need to purchase a microSD card and assures that one's important data and media content are safe in the event that the phone gets damaged.

Apart from being cloud-based, the phone's other notable features include a 5.2-inch FHD display, a RAM of 3GB, dual front facing speakers, NFC, nano SIM, 2680 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, fingerprint sensor, 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, 5MP front camera, Snapdragon 808, quick charging capacity and USB type C.

The preorder price is set at $399 and is now available at backerkit.com. Users can choose to have their device either in "Mint" or "Midnight" color options. Depending on the carrier, the device also comes in either GSM or CDMA version. Shipping is scheduled in the first quarter of 2016.
