Gaming consoles are becoming quite popular among youngsters. Most kids are hooked on to games rather than immersed in books or sports.

Xbox has come up with a new welcome feature that shall provide screen time to the parental units of the console.

Xbox One has always been a target for concerned parents. With gaming consoles becoming more engaging due to incorporating more and more interesting features, children tend to remain glued to the devices and television screens playing their favorite video games. So engrossed are the little ones that they are unaware of the innumerable hours being spent playing them.

Parental Units With Screen Time Feature

Even though video games provide guidelines and age restrictions, monitoring the hours a child spends playing the titles is important. Therefore, parental control has become quite significant in such a scenario. This parental unit for Xbox has been a much-desired request from guardians for some time.

Thanks to these units, parents shall soon have the power to handle the screen time in the case of Xbox One. Not many details about the units are available, but it is assumed that youngsters shall have limited time access to play games within a given window. This allowance and restriction shall be made available for each day of the week.

While several fans are making fun of the screen time limit issue, some of them are extremely concerned about this sudden announcement and, therefore, queried whether it was true.

"@XboxQwik I discovered parental controls on Windows 10 last night. Love features. Maybe bring screen time limits to Xbox one as well?" quizzed the user.

Mike Ybarra, the Director of Program Management for Xbox, mentioned in aTwitter post that this was correct.

Ybarra revealed that chances are high that with the upcoming parental intrusion, young players may feel disappointed but the well-being of children was vital.

Interestingly, people who do not have children and are not playing any parental roles are also praising this new decision taken by the Xbox team. The team feels great about its decision as this is reflective of the company's concern for youngsters.

Information such as the exact date this parental control will go live or if it will include video watching options has not been disclosed by the company.

Once the feature is implemented, the feedback will alert the Xbox team on the impact this new norm may have made on gaming enthusiasts, as well as parents.
