TikTok is expanding its reach to its global audience through improved accessibility, with a range of new translation and captioning tools to help more people engage with the latest trending clips in the social media app.

TikTok Adds Auto Captions

According to Phone Arena, TikTok has added auto-captions to make it easier for users to add text descriptions to their clips.

The auto-captions of the app will appear on the lower left-hand side of the screen, and users can add important context to the viewing experience, especially in sound-off places.

The social media app also added a variation of auto-captions in 2021, with this new update, it makes it even easier for users to provide captions overlaid on their clips.

Aside from the auto-captions, the app also added new translations for captions and descriptions, which could help creators around the world to engage with more clips.

Once creators upgrade the app, creators will now be able to provide translated caption text within the clips.

So for those looking to reach new markets or connect with different audiences, there will now be more options to consider to maximize the clip's performance, according to Mashable.

Finally, TikTok's also adding translations for text-based stickers and overlays to give more context for non-native speakers.

Both of the app's new translation tools will support English, Portuguese, Indonesian, German, Italian, Mandarin, Korean, Turkish, and Spanish, so there is a range of translation options to consider, which could push for new, global trends.

Since the app will be expanding its audience worldwide, the new feature will be a massive advantage to many creators who are hoping to produce trending clips.

The new features could also help TikTok maximize the value of its performers, no matter what type of clip they post.

TikTok says that it is in the early stages of expanding the new tools, which are available on a couple of videos at present.

Filters and Maturing Ratings

Aside from the auto caption, TikTok also introduced the first version of its system called Content Levels.

The app is also preparing to roll out a new feature that will allow users to filter videos with certain words or hashtags from popping up in their feeds.

According to TechCrunch, the new tools are created to give users more control over their experience on the app while making it safer to scroll through, especially for younger users.

The announcements of the new features came after the app faced scrutiny from both regulators and lawmakers regarding its lack of security.

US lawmakers are looking to tighten their grip on several social media platforms, and they are seeking justice over its harm to the youth.

Recently, a group of parents sued TikTok after their children died after attempting life-threatening challenges they saw on the social media app.

Also, former content moderators sued TikTok for its failure to support their mental health, despite the nature of their job.

With its newly rolled out tools, TikTok aims to put more moderation control into the hands of its creators and users.
