Google Maps has added new features for cyclists including bike directions, bike route information, and more.

Google Maps have been continuously improving its features over the past months. In April, the company introduced a set of features that will help drivers and pedestrians.

At the time, the app brought updates, including the toll information, which instantly alerts the user regarding the amount that he/she should pay on the toll. Now, it's rolling out another feature, but this time for cyclists.

According to a report by Wired on Saturday, July 30, Google Maps can now help cyclists who get lost on their trip.

Usually, the bikers only ask their co-bikers about the routes that they need to take once they get astray from the right direction. No particular app can tell you about the steepness of the hill or bike lanes available on a specific road.

With that in mind, Google decided to elevate the cycling experience of the users by providing an improved view of the app. You can now identify the bike routes that you can cross within an area.

Additionally, the app will also tell you if the route has a steep hill. This is a safety feature on the part of the cyclists. You can also determine the busyness of the traffic once you're already in the location.

Aside from that, Google Maps will now alert you if there's a "stairs" warning on the route. The most requested feature, the comprehensive bike direction, is available on this web mapping platform, as well.

Google Maps Aerial 3D Views

In another report from Tech Times, Google Maps can now allow users to have a glimpse of their favorite landmarks in 3D view. Through the "immersive view" feature, you can zoom in on a landmark of your choice and check its aerial appearance.

As of writing, Google says it's still adding updates for this feature. By the time it's fully accessible, you can now virtually tour all around the globe and have a sighting of the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, and other famous landmarks.

Google Maps Cares For Your Family and Friends

Besides cyclists, pedestrians, drivers, and landmark enthusiasts, Google Maps has included another update for your family. Launching a locating-sharing alert will notify your family and friends about your location, per XDA Developers.

Once you go in and out of the area, they will receive your shared location. At any time, you can choose to stop this feature. This particular option is made so your privacy would be safeguarded after disabling the feature.
