Google's famed My Ad Center that it unveiled on I/O 2022 is now available for all to access, with the company allowing users to choose the ads they want to see or turn off the targeted ads. The company ensures that this new feature will not interfere with its services including Maps, Search, Google Assistant, and more.

The new service aims to help the public control what appears on their use of the Google services available for all to access.

According to Jerry Dischler, General Manager for Ads, via the Google Blog, the previously announced feature is now available for all to access and use for their preferences.

The new My Ad Center is a way for the public to control what ads they see online, and they can choose to turn this off to avoid any data collection which bases the ads on their searches.

The feature is available to a user's preferred Google service, or it can be all of the company's apps and features available to all.

Google first introduced this feature via the I/O 2022, but the company was able to release it now for people to access.

How to Turn Targeted Apps Off

The My Ad Center is available on Google apps that run ads, and users may choose the three-dot menu to access it whenever an ad is running on one's feed or video. Here, users may turn off the targeted ads or choose to see less similar content appear in their feeds.

For example, YouTube users may turn off ads and it will not affect their watch recommendation from the app's algorithm, said Google.

Google and its Ads

There is a massive dispute regarding the ads that run on Google, and there are many regulatory agencies and committees which already spoke out against the company. There was a time when crypto scammers were able to use Google Ads to their advantage to run scams against the public and access their wallets and data.

Ads have been a massive problem for a long time now, especially as it uses personal information from the public for companies to insert their products, focusing on a targeted setup.

The company said that it is phasing out ads in its web browser that will favor users, and it is through stopping the cookie data storage that it offers users every time they visit websites. The company additionally said that it will no longer run its targeted ads through people's browsing history where their data is accessible to the company.

The new My Ad Center from Google gives the public more control over what they see online, and it protects their data and identity from notorious ad companies that insert targeted ads through Google. Moreover, it aims to help the public more with their usage of Google's services, by letting them decide on their content.
