The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is a yearly event that showcases the latest and greatest in consumer technology. This year, the automotive industry had a strong showing at the event. Companies like Amazon, Mercedes, BMW, and Ram showed off new transportation-related technologies and ideas.

At CES 2023, the world's largest consumer electronics show, the biggest car companies took the opportunity to showcase their latest and greatest in automotive technology. From electric and autonomous vehicles to advanced driver assistance systems, these companies pulled out all the stops to demonstrate their commitment to innovation and the future of transportation.

In this article, we will take a closer look at the groundbreaking automotive technology on display at CES 2023 and what it means for consumers.

Amazon's Alexa and EV Charging Stations

A report from USA Today tells us that Amazon's Alexa virtual assistant will soon help users find and pay for EV charging stations. From 2023, US drivers can use voice commands to identify and pay for more than 150,000 public EV charging stations.

The US's largest public fast charging network, EVgo, will be Amazon's first EV charging partner. The feature streamlines EV charging station discovery and payment.

Mercedes' Level 3 Autonomous Driving

In other news, Mercedes plans to launch Level 3 Autonomous Driving in California and Nevada. The technology available this year lets drivers take their hands off the wheel and their eyes off the road, but they must be ready to take control in an emergency.

Its 37-mph speed limit is identical to Mercedes' Level 3 Drive Pilot system in Germany. The company has not announced when it will start manufacturing cars using the technology, which requires Nevada and California state approval.

BMW Goes Fancy

BMW also made waves at this year's CES with the debut of the I Vision Dee concept car, which can change color. The exterior of the car is made up of an e-ink screen, similar to that of an e-reader, that allows it to transition between 32 colors.

The car's exterior panels, wheels, and grill can all be changed in color. The vehicle also boasts a new heads-up display (HUD) that fills the entire windshield, enabling drivers to access information and communications, augmented reality projections, and "virtual worlds."

BMW also debuted its "Theatre Screen" cinematic tech display. This idea may turn a humdrum vehicle into a "private cinema lounge" for all its worth.

The Theatre Screen can stream 16:9, 21:9, or 32:9 content. It runs Amazon's Fire OS and has an 8K resolution (8000 x 2000). Your car can use 5G too.

Ram 1500 Revolution

Ram has introduced the 1500 Revolution, a concept battery-electric vehicle (BEV) pick-up truck that will be available in 2024. The car, which is outfitted with cutting-edge technology and has a futuristic look, can be charged with either a standard plug-in charger or an inductive robot charger.

The robot charger, which looks like a robotic floor vacuum, can identify the vehicle and charge it automatically if it needs to be charged. The Ram 1500 Revolution offers a 300-mile range and can be charged to 80% capacity in 30 minutes with an 800-volt, 350-kilowatt DC fast charger.
