Google may have dropped a quiet update to the Pixel's Adaptive Charging feature, one that is present on Android smartphones to help users protect their battery charging when doing it overnight. The update was not announced and this was seen in the current version of the feature, one where it brings status notifications and a one-time switch to turn off the alarm.

The Pixel Adaptive Charging may be set on one's sleep schedule, but in the previous version, users have to manually do it between 5 to 10 AM, depending on the time they woke up.

The Google Pixel 7 Pro phone is displayed at its launch in New York on October 6, 2022. - Once a minor player in the smartphone business, Google confirmed its new ambition to penetrate the highly competitive market.

A Pixel user from 9to5 Google claims that the update includes a range of new features that are designed to give users more control over their device's battery usage. This was not available before as there was no way to set the time or be notified that it is in use.

One of the standout features of the update is the addition of status notifications, which will keep users informed about the charging status of their device. The feature will appear on the notifications above, explaining that the device would steadily charge to 80 percent, and would continue charging it up to 100 percent or the closest to it when it is time for the user to wake up.

Another useful addition is the ability to turn off one-time alarms when the phone is in use. This means that users can avoid being interrupted by an alarm when they are already using their devices.

These useful features are for those who need to keep their phone charged throughout the day, as it allows them to plan their usage accordingly.

It was originally discovered by Redditors who first saw the Adaptive Charging features, one that was not announced by Google, and also not part of the March 2023 Feature drop.

What Does the Pixel Adaptive Charging Feature Bring?

The Pixel Adaptive Charging feature is designed to adapt to the user's habits and usage patterns, particularly in their sleep or overnight charging needs, to optimize the battery life of their device. This means that the feature will adjust the charging speed and pattern based on the sleep schedule, and will also optimize the battery usage before they wake up, with an alarm to set them off.

Google's support document claims that this feature was previously available but may only be tweaked by going to Settings, to turn it on or off for the device. Users did not have the power to set the alarm to a different time before, and this new tweak would help them to change their needs or turn off the alarm when they have to wake up earlier than what the device was used to.

Google Pixel, Is it the Only Phone You Need?

Google claims that Pixel is the only smartphone you need, a device that can do it all for users and owners.

The current Pixel lineup is at its 7th series release, with the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, with the 120Hz screen refresh rate, Tensor G2, and the latest there is to Android's features.

The Pixel Adaptive Charging update is a welcome addition to the Pixel smartphone and should help users to better manage their device's battery life. With the new features and performance improvements included in the update, Pixel users can expect to see better battery life and a more seamless user experience.
