Gaming in the modern world has evolved into a different experience. However, like the previous tech, it is still prone to breaking, with Nintendo warning Switch users about possible danger.

The Nintendo Switch may seem fragile because of its removable JoyCon controllers, touch screen, and closed build, but this is not what Nintendo is talking about.

Nintendo Warns About Potential Dangers on Switch Console

Nintendo Japan's customer service Twitter account has released a warning to Switch users when using physical cartridges for their games. This only applies to those still relying on physical games, so if you are a digital game player, then this may not concern you.

According to Nintendo, cleaning out the game card slot could damage its terminals, with the Japanese gaming company citing using cotton swabs as an example. It also said that inserting a broken game card into a terminal is not fine as it may get caught in the terminal and break.

The company added that if dust gets inside the game card slot, use a vacuum cleaner to suck it out and not blow on it, as saliva may adhere to the terminals and cause parts to rust or corrode.

This simple act that might be overlooked may lead to the console breaking, and despite just wanting to clean it or not noticing the broken card may already break the console altogether.

The warning from Nintendo explicitly claims that users should not compromise their Switch consoles with any foreign materials and advises them not to touch the inside of the game card slot.

Should You Switch to Digital Games Already?

The risk centers on physical games for the Switch, so digital games are a great choice, as these titles are highly accessible after being purchased and downloaded via the Nintendo eShop.

All gaming companies currently have two options for users regarding their game acquisition: physical games or digital titles. And while the first thought that comes to mind is to reduce the production needs to bring these games to stores, the second one is for the longevity and safety of the console.

The same goes for the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, as a lot may happen when inserting the physical game, like breaking the disc or lodging debris in it, and improper handling or not being careful could lead to the console breaking.

With that being said, it might be a good idea to switch to digital games for these consoles, including the Nintendo Switch, especially if you still have available storage.

Nintendo Switch and its Games

Nintendo has provided many different games since it arrived in 2017. However, one of its most iconic games is a digital one released under the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack retro titles.

Moreover, there are also exclusive Switch games in Japan or Europe, and one of the best ways to experience them is by obtaining them digitally. But it requires players to change their account's region on the eShop page.

Consider this warning a piece of advice from Nintendo, as it seems to have gotten many cases of the Switch consoles breaking because of fiddling around the game card slot, and the company wants gamers to avoid this problem in the long run.
