In the latest blog post by Google, the company has rolled out new accessibility features and updates that would help a person's daily tasks and operations, making it faster and easier to suit their needs. This is available in various apps from Google, with one of the main features centering on Google Maps which will provide accessible walking routes that would center on "stair-free" routes.

This feature centers on offering accessibility to people with wheelchairs or strollers, particularly as sets of stairs would prevent them from going about their days or bring them a difficult time.

Another feature is Google Assistant, with "Assistant Routine" features allowing improved access to information and automation of daily tasks. Pixel's Cameras are also getting better accessibility features for improved operations.

Screen reader is also here and would first roll out to the iOS platform with Android following later this year. Through this feature, Google's Lens in Maps will bring auditory feedback of the places captured by the person, along with helpful information to assist those with vision difficulties.

Google also brings Maps and Search to feature "disabled-owned" businesses to easily find and support users, as well as putting badges for those owned by specific communities like African-American, LGBTQ+ friendly, Asian establishments, and more.

Google's Accessibility Features

Accessibility has been one of the main focuses of technology now, making these experiences more inclusive and available for all to utilize to cater to their needs. Google's releases also bring various accessibility features including a Chromebook update, allowing users to "Select-to-Speak" everything that a webpage contains, mainly catering to people with Dyslexia and those with reading issues.

There have been various updates to Chrome, but earlier this year, Google added new accessibility features for users right on the web browser, centering on better visibility for all. Through Google Chrome, users may zoom in and out of the text, images, videos, and other parts of the website easily, helping users to enlarge the display to as much as 300 percent while keeping the original format.

What makes modern technology good is inclusivity and accessibility that caters to all kinds of audiences or user, without the need for them to adjust or have special accessories to fit their usage. In this new update from Google on its various apps, new accessibility features are here to bring improvements, particularly for wheelchair users, or those using wheel-equipped machinery.
