By now, everyone has seen — and many of you reading this have probably taken part in — the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It's taken over the pop culture, with movie stars, pro sports players, business moguls, politicians and many more sitting under the bucket for a good cause.
We've seen some outside-the-box entries by the likes of Chris Pratt, Bill Gates and the Foo Fighters, but today a different kind of celebrity added his name to the list. He might even be the first person to do the challenge who's not human.
Ladies and gentlemen, Kermit the Frog has taken the Ice Bucket Challenge today to support ALS research and then posted the whole thing on the Muppets' YouTube channel. And it's every bit as entertaining as you'd hope.
A frog doing the Challenge is not the weirdest part of this. No, the most bizarre part of this story is the person who challenged Kermit in the first place. In an odd twist of fate, Kermit was challenged by — of all people — WWE owner Vince McMahon. Does Mr. Professional Wrestling even know the Muppets personally? Or is he getting revenge against Kermit for something?
We live in a weird, weird world.
Before getting dowsed, Kermit points out that ice cold water and amphibians are not a good mix. Apparently amphibians' hearts have a tendency to stop when they're dunked in water that cold. Happily, Kermit appears to survive the experience, though not without some humorous results.
Instead of taking the easy way out and challenging some of his fellow Muppets, Kermit boldly stepped up and challenged his human "Muppets Most Wanted" co-stars Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and Ty Burrell to dunk themselves in ice water. Well played, Kermit. Miss Piggie thanks you.
Tech Times has followed the Ice Bucket Challenge closely, and we've noticed several individuals who've flat-out done it wrong. Creators of Google Larry Page and Sergey Brin, for example, appear to have dumped buckets of ice on themselves — without the water. (It's not like anyone was going to correct them; they own the whole Earth.)
Take a cue from Kermit. If you're going to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, do it the right way. Just don't risk your life in the process.
