Winter is coming, and with the ominous change in the seasons come the dragons. At least that's what the newest poster for Game of Thrones Season 5 seems to be hinting at.

While many fans of the TV show can't wait for the new season to finally air on April 12 on HBO, the poster does more than whet the appetite.  It could possibly signify another huge departure from the original novels written by George R.R. Martin.

Don't worry, no book spoilers below but if you're not caught up yet on the events from Season 4, then you might want to get off your dragon and finish watching before you read further.

Last time we saw Tyrion Lannister, he was fleeing Westeros after shooting his father, Tywin, as he sat on the latrine.  Varys helped to get him safely on board a vessel set to sail across the Narrow Sea for Tyrion to meet with one who could be worthy of sitting on Iron Throne. A Queen with dragons at her beck and call -- Daenerys Targaryen.

The poster clearly shows Tyrion on a ship heading into an unclear future.  However, the menacing figure up ahead is most definitely a force to be reckoned with.  A fully grown dragon flying overhead, wings spread wide out, and ready to attack.

The dragon in the poster happens to be Daenery's favorite, Drogon.  As sharp eyes over at io9 pointed out, the artwork in the poster was lifted directly from the CGI work used in the episode where the largest of the three dragons attacked some goats (and a frightened goatherd) in Season 4.

Although Dany was forced to lock up her beloved children/dragons at the end of Season 4, could it be possible that Tyrion gets a surprise welcome from Drogon?

The official Game of Thrones Facebook account, where the artwork was revealed, did a good job of getting the fans excited about the upcoming season with the post: "Rally the realm and spread the word."
