Some Nexus 5X owners have been wondering if their new phones are in need of care, due to a condition in which the handsets develop a moderate yellowing of the display. White tones have a yellow hue on some 5X handsets.

Apparently, Google is already on top of the issue. The company has allegedly told some users it is looking into the matter, while informing other sthat they'll receive replacements for their yellow-faced phones.

Right now, there isn't much to go on as far as the source of the discoloration. There is some speculation that the glue securing the screen hasn't had enough time to properly cure on the affected handset,

In the meantime, the folks over at Reddit have been discussing the issue.

"I just got my 5X yesterday and the screen is very yellow compared to my 5," writes Redditor yamm3rs. "Is this normal, or are we going to have to go through this again? I didn't have the yellow screen issues with my 5 but i recall it being a thing."

yamm3rs updated the original post to include a this image, comparing the yellowed Nexus with a healthy one.

The issue doesn't appear to be affecting all 5X handsets, but other have been slowly sharing their complaints of a yellow tint.

"My 5x arrived today and I've noticed the exact same thing," says Redditor starrzo. "I've still been using my 5 at the same time, and switching between the two it's very obvious that the 5x's screen is really yellow which is disappointing :-( Keep us informed!"

Google officially unveiled the Nexus 5X, along with the bigger and more powerful Nexus 6P, during its Nexus event last month. The LG-made 5X comes roughly two years after Google introduced the Nexus 5.

"Capturing the soul of the Nexus family, the 5X offers top-line performance in a compact, lightweight device that's ready to go anywhere, anytime," says Google. "Beneath the 5.2-inch display is a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor for world-class speed at an affordable price."
