Always wanted the green yarn Yoshi Amiibo, but unable to order the Yoshi's Wooly World game bundle?
Crave no more because Nintendo has just announced that the Green Yarn Yoshi is available as a separate purchase.
Walmart is now accepting pre-orders, priced at $17, for the endearing Yoshi Amiibo, made from actual yarn.
Launched by Nintendo in November 2014, the Amiibo is a wireless communications and storage protocol. It is a Toys-to-Life item, compatible with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS gaming platforms. The technology uses near field communication to interact with video game software.
Amiibo toys are available in various shapes and sizes. Nintendo offers a range of choices, from character figures to portable cards.
Amiibo accessories have specific features depending on the figure and compatible game. Nintendo provides a compatibility chart for its amiibo line-up.
Yoshi is compatible with Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
"Made from actual yarn, Yoshi has never been more adorable! Kind-hearted, naturally protective of others, and perpetually hungry, Yoshi is always up for adventure... there are so many mysteries to explore and new things to find! Yoshis can flutter their legs to jump incredibly high and can use their long tongue to snare enemies or other handy things," reads the Green Yarn Yoshi Amiibo (Universal) product description.
Generally, Amiibo figures can save certain game data. In some games, players can get bonus content for tapping an Amiibo on the Game Pad.
To use the Amiibo, you will need either a Wii U system or a New Nintendo 3DS XL system, along with an Amiibo figure and a compatible game. For use with Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS systems, a Nintendo 3DS NFC reader/writer accessory is required.
With Yoshi's Woolly World Bundle Amiibo, you can activate "Double Yoshi" by scanning the Yarn Yoshi while on single-player mode. This creates a second Yoshi at any point during a stage. You can also save your favorite unlockable Patterned Yoshi to the Yarn Yoshi Amiibo, and use it during "Double Yoshi" or on cooperative 2-player mode.
