It has already been three years since the Larry David's HBO smash "Curb Your Enthusiasm" went off the air after the eighth season, but fans are still clamoring to hear what's next for the man behind "Seinfeld."

For a while it seemed like David was permanently done with "Curb," but now there might be some hope for a ninth season.

According to Vulture, Larry David might want to return to his award winning show after all. But don't get too excited because it doesn't look like a ninth season of "Curb" will begin any time soon. While David stuck with HBO to do the original movie "Clear History," there is no timeline to when we can expect fresh "Curb" episodes.

After bumping into HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, David assured him that the age of "Curb" is not over yet. That being said, it does not look like the ninth season of the show will happen in 2014. However, Lombardo adds that "as long as he's thinking about it, we still have a place for it." The vote of confidence from the cable head honcho gives hope to fans everywhere that the hysterics will continue at some point and that it is only a matter of time.

The audience for the show is anxiously awaiting new episodes despite the long layoff since 2011. Last season saw David return to his original home of New York where he took over the Big Apple with his various quircks and phobias. The show has become a companion piece to "Seinfeld," and it continues to gain in popularity now that the first eight seasons are available On Demand. It is unclear as to who will return to the cable mainstay, but any speculation is premature at this point.

"Curb Your Enthusiasm" premiered back in 1999 as an HBO special before spawning off into a series of its own. The series changed the face of 21st century comedies as it featured an almost completely improvised narrative. Many awards and seasons later, David flexed his Hollywood muscles by seemingly calling it quits three years ago. But it sounds like Larry was just taking a break to do, well, whatever he wants. The fans are anxiously awaiting the show's return to pay cable.

"As long as he's thinking about it, we still have a place for it," says Lombardo. It remains to be seen what LD's timeline is, but fans have waited this long so another year doesn't seem to be a big deal. We'll see.
