Microsoft already made its virtual assistant Cortana available for Google's Android OS.

Now, it's available for iOS users — well, that's if you're lucky to be chosen.

As a support engineer explained in a Microsoft Community forum this week, the company is looking for a "limited number of people" to get their hands on an early version of the Cortana app, but they'll need to fill out a survey first.

"In the spirit of the Windows Insider Program, we're looking for a limited number of people to get their hands on an early version of the app," a support engineer wrote on Microsoft's forum. "It's important to keep in mind that this is the first public release of the Cortana for iOS beta. And that for now, Cortana for iOS is only available in the U.S. and China. Over the coming months, we'll continue to deliver frequent updates to the app to expand the features and functionality.

"If you're interested in getting early access to the beta version in the U.S., please take this short survey," the post continues explaining. "We'll be limiting access to begin with, and will start sending out download links over email to bring users on-board in the coming weeks. "

The six-question survey asks those interested in trying out Cortana for iOS for their Microsoft email, Apple ID, the current Apple iOS smartphone used, version of iOS installed, how often they use Cortana on Windows 10 and their country of residence.

Microsoft also specifies that, although it's making Cortana available for iPhones, users won't have some of the same features on their smartphones that they have on Windows 10 — such as the ability to say "Hey Cortana" to wake the virtual assistant.

Aside from that, though, Cortana will help iOS users with basic tasks such as Web searching, reminders, scheduling events and sending emails.
