Social media recently provided leaked images of the Samsung A3 and Samsung A5's proud successors. The two new 2016 edition models of the Galaxy A3 and the Galaxy A5 showed up on Twitter.

User @sleaknow posted the surprising images on its Twitter account, albeit only briefly. He also pushed rumors about another highly expected release, the Samsung Galaxy A7. At the time of writing, the pictures no longer appear on the account.

Sources indicate that the design of the new handsets pays homage to the more expensive smartphones from Samsung – the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6. The metallic body frame and glass back (probably Gorilla Glass) is in line with the OEM's design choices for its high-priced phones.

The images offer some information on the display sizes as well. Both devices appear to inherit the screen sizes of their predecessors, giving the new Galaxy A3 a 4.5-in display and the new Galaxy A5 a 5.2-inch screen, respectively. Both handsets get a Micro-USB port, a headphone slot, a speaker grille and a microphone at the bottom side. The middle of the back panel hosts the LED flash as well as the rear camera.

We reported last month on intriguing GFXBench listings, which gave a good overview of the two smartphones' specs.

According to readings from GFXBench, the Galaxy A5 (2016) sports a 1,080p display of 5.2-inch.The chipset is an eight-core Cortex-A57/A53 Exynos 7 SoC that relies on 2 GB of RAM. The phone is equipped with two cameras, a rear 12MP and a front 5MP. The basic variant has 16 GB of internal storage.

The smaller and probably more affordable Galaxy A3 (2016) comes with a modest 720p screen of 4.7-inch. Behind the display there is a four-core Cortex-A53 Exynos 7580 SoC and only 1.5 GB of RAM. Both the internal storage and the cameras are identical to the Galaxy A5 (2016).

Rumors claim that the new handsets from Samsung have Android Lollipop 5.1.1 pre-installed.

In other news, this holiday season seems to be a really good time to pick up a Samsung phone. The company has a couple of bundle offers that can save you up to $350 with the purchase of a Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge+ or Galaxy S6 Edge.

More rebates are in store for shoppers who chose to activate their Samsung Pay. In a not-so-subtle marketing move, Samsung also offers credit in Google Play for buyers who trade in an iPhone for a Galaxy phone.
