A new television ad for Star Wars: The Force Awakens unveils a little more footage from the film before its release next month.

Although there isn't a lot of new footage shown here, there are a few key new details to note, including the first time Kylo Ren has said the words "the dark side" in a trailer.

This trailer also shows a lot more action than we've previously seen, focusing more on that than the characters, although there is a lot of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Finn (John Boyega) shown during its minute play time.

Please note that the following may contain spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The trailer opens with Rey and Finn running from a tie fighter that's firing on them. Later, we see Rey speaking to Han Solo (Harrison Ford), who hands her a gun and tells her she might need it.

There's also a closer look at Kylo Ren, who threatens that "nothing will stand in our way. We'll show them the dark side." Then, the scene shifts to show his troops marching through a town, looking for something, or perhaps someone.

Of course, even with all this new footage, director J.J. Abrams still keeps the plot of The Force Awakens secretive, although he recently admitted that the film will serve as its own standalone story.

"We wanted to tell a story that had its own self-contained beginning, middle, and end but at the same time, like A New Hope, implied a history that preceded it and also hinted at a future to follow," said Abrams to Wired. "When Star Wars first came out, it was a film that both allowed the audience to understand a new story but also to infer all sorts of exciting things that might be. In that first movie, Luke wasn't necessarily the son of Vader, he wasn't necessarily the brother of Leia, but it was all possible."

In that same interview, Abrams also admitted that there is a fine line between showing enough and not showing too much in the trailers.

"But I don't want to destroy too many illusions," he said. "We're walking a tightrope. If you fall on one side it's no good, because we're showing too much. If you fall on the other side it's no good, because we're not showing anything and we look like arrogant jerks."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in theaters on Dec. 18.
