A few months after it was first launched, the private messaging system of Twitch, billed Whisper, is now landing on mobile devices – initially on Android.

Announced on a blog post, the beta version of this system is making its way first to Android devices before it's going to be deployed to iOS soon after gathering more than enough feedback.

"If your device is selected, you will automatically be able to update the app to have access to the new functionality," notes Twitch on its post. "Check back each day this week to see if you have access!"

"Keep in mind that this feature is still in beta," reiterates Twitch.

Additionally, it is requesting its users to send in their suggestions on its Whispers system by filling out a feedback report.

Earlier this year, the live-streaming service announced a slew of huge modifications to its video-on-demand section during the TwitchCon. It seems that those changes are beginning to come to fruition.

It is worth noting that support for thumbnail editing is live for everybody, albeit users can't upload their very own photos. Rather, Twitch will auto-generate a quartet of thumbnails for any previous broadcasts.

In the meantime, the Whisper feature initially rolled out in June. This functionality enables Twitch users to send out private messages to their pals. Each and every whisper will appear in the public chat window. Nevertheless, the intended person receiving a whisper is only capable of reading it.

"Whisper to friends, followers and subscribers to chat privately one-on-one across all of Twitch," reads the announcement of Twitch. "Your whisper will show up in-line with the rest of chat on web and mobile apps no matter what channel you're on."

In a bid to safeguard the privacy of its users, Twitch also permitted them to block people they don't want to get whispers from. Prior to blocking that person, Twitch will ask the user's explanation. By doing this, it can possibly determine whether that individual has also broken the terms and conditions of the site. It has to be noted, though, that blocked users should be able to get a notice, indicating they've been blocked and they can't send in messages.
