The new Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is now available in Canada through local carrier Bell.

Dubbed as the world's first smartphone to have a 4K UHD display, the Xperia Z5 Premium can now be snagged at the price of $299.99 under a 2-year contract or $749.99 with no contract.

In the U.S., the latest flagship from Sony is also available through third party retailers. These include Amazon and Expansys which currently sell the standard model at around $780.

Sony touts the Xperia Z5 Premium as its best camera phone to date. Designed with a 5.5-inch 4K IPS Triluminos display, it has a 23 MP rear camera with 4K video recording and a pixel resolution of 3,840 x 2,160.

"With Xperia Z5 Premium you can capture the world in incredible high-resolution 4K video. This means your videos have four times the detail of Full HD," said Sony. "Add to that a host of Sony's Handycam technologies, including SteadyShotTM for stable videos, and you can count on flawless footage."

Apart from having high-end specs for the camera, the Xperia Z5 Premium also boasts a number of other top-of-the-line features. These include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 64-bit octa-core processor, a 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 200 GB through a microSD card slot, 5.0 MP front camera, 3430 mAh battery, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and fingerprint scanner.

"Enjoy security while still accessing your phone quickly and easily," said Bell. "The power button incorporates a fingerprint scanner to conveniently and securely unlock your phone."

The Xperia Z5 is also expected to get the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow within the next couple of months. Similar to its older siblings, the handset also bears the company's leading waterproof design and has earned for itself an IP68 rating.

"Rain happens. So do drops in the sink and knocked over drinks. Xperia Z5 has Sony's leading waterproof design and an IP68 rating. Because a little water should never ruin the day," said Sony.

For those who prioritize good battery life in their handsets, the Xperia Z5 promises to deliver up to two days of battery life on a single charge.

"Get up to 2 days of battery life or even more in Ultra STAMINA mode. A fast charger is included, so you'll always have the power for taking stunning pictures, sending a text or surfing the Web," said Bell.

The Sony Xperia Z5 is also available for purchase in Taiwan and in most countries of Europe. It retails at £629 in the UK, €899 in Greece, €829 in Italy and €799 in other countries.
