Pixelmator for iOS received a massive update, adding more tools for iPad Pro and iPhone 6s users who need to edit images quickly and professionally.

The update includes the complete integration of iPad Pro and the Apple Pencil. This means that the stylus manufactured by the Cupertino-based company now works flawlessly and offers highly sensitive brush strokes. Palm rejection support, alongside pressure and tilt sensitive brushes, will also make the work of digital artists much easier.

Owners of iPhone 6s smartphones have a reason to download/update the app as well, as Pixelmator implemented 3D Touch support for the handsets. The stylus does not work on the handset, but you can experiment with brush painting on your iPhone 6s using your finger. It is more likely that digital artists will use the 3D Touch feature on their slates.

Another advantage of having 3D Touch on all your Apple mobile devices is that you can Peek and Pop into documents so that you preview items from the Gallery. Some Quick Actions are available, allowing for more streamlined image creation.

Owners of iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus will get full access to the 3D Touch capabilities. However, there are secondary advantages of using Pixelmator 2.2, and all iOS users benefit from them

For example, an auto-straighten feature can align the horizon line with the true horizontal in one tap. With Pixelmator 2.2, users may create font sizes as high as 1000 pixels and can snap cropping lines to have a perfect alignment with trimmed images.

A set of Basic brushes comes included in the update. Fans of 8-bit imagery received a pixel-level brush to aid them in their antiquated, vintage-cool images. As with all updates, the patch also brings many bug fixes and performance optimizations.

You can download Pixelmator 2.2 for iPhone and iPad Pro from the App Store, for a price of $4.99. If you manipulate images on a Mac, Pixelmator 2.2 waits for you in the Mac App Store, for the higher price of $29.99. For users who already installed the app, they can get the bonus features simply by upgrading.
