It seems that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is continuing its effort against the developers of Popcorn Time Community Edition (PTCE).

The developers were reportedly compelled by the movie industry group to shut down the website and GitHub repository which was launched recently. It appears, however, that they intend a quick return, bringing in a new plan.

It was just last month when the MPAA shut down PopcornTime.io, which was deemed as the main Popcorn Time website. The group even filed a lawsuit against a few developers in Canada.

This did not stop others from launching their Popcorn Time sites, including the developers of PTCE. The PTCE then immediately gained a considerable number of fans.

"Popcorn Time will probably never go away, despite the efforts made by organizations such as BREIN, the MPAA and others," said the developer of PTCE to TorrentFreak during the launch. "Instead of fighting this great software, they should embrace it."

Luretrix2k, moderator of the Popcorn Time subreddit, revealed that the developers of the official Community Edition sites have been contacted by the MPAA, which made the team decide to take down the official site alongside the GitHub repository. The moderator added that the PTCE team intends to "start all over again with new strategy / game plan" to steer clear of possible troubles down the road.

"As always things will take some time ... but hopefully everything will be back to normal as soon as possible," Luretrix2k assured, confident that the developers of Popcorn Time have everything under control.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that two PTCE developers decided to quit the project they were working on upon being targeted by BREIN, an anti-piracy group. It is likely that the group is checking out ways on how to avoid getting trouble with the law.

In the meantime, the original The Pirate Bay (TPB) website was suspended earlier this month after the site owner failed to validate the contact details of the site with the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).

Fans of the site were a bit shocked when they were greeted with a note from the registrar EuroDNS of the site. The blocked .org domain was previously used by the fans of TPB as a redirect to one of its latest domains.
