Huawei is reportedly shifting gears. A report claims the Shenzhen-based company could be working on a hybrid MateBook laptop which runs on both Windows and Android operating systems.

A report from GizmoChina indicates that China's largest device manufacturer has shifted its attention to come up with a hybrid laptop personal computer which can be used as either a laptop or a tablet with a detachable keyboard.

Specifically, this hybrid PC is believed to rock both Windows 10 and Android OS with EMUI.

Rumor has it that the device could house an Intel chipset under its hood. Based on the leaked purported photo of the device, it is also expected to come with a stylus. At the moment, though, not much is known regarding the hardware specifications of this forthcoming device, apart from the abovementioned details.

While Huawei has yet to release its official word regarding its plans to release, a rumor claims that the company's hottest new thing is believed to be introduced anytime at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. There is no info yet about the new MateBook's price.

Xiaomi is believed to launch a traditional laptop, but Huawei seems more interested in releasing a 2-in-1 in the market. If the rumor is true, it is safe to say that this device could go toe-to-toe with Microsoft's Surface Book.

Huawei is indeed on the roll. Earlier this month, the company took the wraps off its Mate 8, its newest 6-inch premium smartphone. The company launched the device during this year's CES in Las Vegas. Apart from its high-resolution display, the phone rocks an octa-core processor and a battery touting 28 hours of talk time or 17 hours of video on a single charge. Equipped with 16-megapixel shooter designed by Sony, this handset has a €599 price tag, which is about $650.

Loyal Huawei fans across the globe are also excited about the upcoming Huawei P9. In fact, the Kirin 950-powered smartphone recently dominated headlines as it has reportedly topped benchmark tests. The leaked Geekbench results showed that the P9 garnered a whopping multi-core score of 7,313.

To date, Huawei is deemed the third largest smartphone maker in the entire globe, next to Samsung and Apple.
