Now you can fight while dressed in the red armor of the Chozo alien race, bestowed upon Samus, the protagonist of Nintendo's Metroid adventures.

Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the new Super Smash Bros. games, has revealed that when players fight with a Mii avatar in the game, they can wear costumes. The image Sakurai shared included a Mii wearing Samus's armor from Metroid battling with another Mii dressed as a Meta Knight, an enemy from the Kirby series.

The image was posted on Nintendo's Miiverse social network, where Sakurai states: "Pic of the day. 'Hello! I'm Samus, the intergalactic bounty hunter!' 'And I am Meta Knight, joining the battle!!"

Nintendo hasn't released any info about any other costumes for the Mii fighters in Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. is the upcoming fighting game from Nintendo, featuring a mix of characters from a number of the company's game franchises, such as Mario, Link, Kirby, Samus and Pikachu. There are even guest characters from other companies, such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-man and Mega Man.

One of the additions of this latest installment in the Smash Bros. franchise is the ability to fight with a Mii, a cartoony avatar that you create to represent yourself on a Nintendo console or handheld. Nintendo has used Miis in its hardware since the launch of the Nintendo Wii console in November 2006.

The Smash Bros. series is a fighting game franchise with five titles, including the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and for the Nintendo 3DS. The series has been developed and published by Nintendo since the original Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 64 released in 1999.

Samus is the protagonist of the Metroid games, with 12 titles that began with the original Metroid for the Nintendo Entertainment System from 1986. Meta Knight is from the Kirby games, 20+ titles spanning from the original Kirby's Dream Land for the Game Boy handheld to the upcoming Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for Wii U.

Super Smash Bros. 3DS will be released August 6 in the U.S. Super Smash Bros. Wii U only has a "Holiday 2014" release date.
