Gamers excited about the PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider can now rejoice, as the game officially became available for purchase.
We already knew the game was coming to PCs this week and anticipation was building up. Nvidia recently boosted the hype and offered a list of preliminary GPU requirements ahead of the PC release, and the big day finally arrived.
Rise of the Tomb Raider for PC is now on sale in the Windows Store, available for purchase at a discounted $53.99 as part of a limited-time promotional offer.
"Featuring epic, high-octane action moments set in the most beautiful hostile environments on earth, Rise of the Tomb Raider delivers a cinematic survival action adventure where you will join Lara Croft on her first tomb raiding expedition as she seeks to discover the secret of immortality," Microsoft touts on its Major Nelson blog.
"Only the Windows Store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider includes rich Xbox Live features like Achievements, Game DVR, Leaderboards and more."
The company also offered more details regarding the PC version of the Rise of the Tomb Raider, listing the minimum PC requirements, the recommended ones, and the supported OS version.
Minimum PC Specifications
These refer to the minimum requirements necessary to ensure the system supports Rise of the Tomb Raider and can deliver a decent gaming experience. To play this title, gamers will need at least an Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD Phenom II X4 945, Nvidia GTX 650 2 GB or AMD HD 7770 2 GB graphics, at least 6 GB of RAM, a minimum of 35 GB of storage space for the base game and DX11. When it comes to peripherals, the game supports the Xbox One gamepad and any keyboard and mouse compatible with Windows.
Although Rise of the Tomb Raider sports optimizations for Windows 10, these minimum specifications aim to ensure everything runs properly.
These differ from minimum specifications because the goal is not just a decent gaming experience, but a great one. These higher specifications should ensure smooth gameplay so players can get the most out of the popular title.
Recommended PC specs for Rise of the Tomb Raider include a 3.40 GHz Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-8350 gunning at 4.0 GHz, Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290x graphics, 8 GB of RAM, 35 GB of HDD space and DX11.
In terms of operating system, Rise of the Tomb Raider will shine on the 64-bit version of Windows 10 with the November update installed (v1511).
Promotional Price And Perks
The aforementioned $53.99 promo price is good for one week, after which the game will go up to its regular price tag of $59.99. In addition to this limited-time 10 percent discount, Microsoft is also offering the Remnant Resistant Pack for free with all Rise of the Tomb Raider purchases made before Feb. 3.
Alternately, the PC version of the Rise of the Tomb Raider is also available on Steam, with the same 10 percent discount.
