Warner Bros. is working overtime to get "Aquaman" ready for the big screen.

Whether or not the King of Atlantis will be appearing in "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" seems to be up in the air, but the studio is definitely eyeing a solo film for the hero. Screenwriters Will Beall ("Gangster Squad") and Kurt Johnstad ("300: Rise of an Empire") have been tapped to pen not one but two scripts about Aquaman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the scribes will both be writing their own version of an Aquaman script with the studio hoping that they can take parts from both screenplays and craft one epic movie.

Rumors have been swirling for months that Aquaman, a.k.a Arthur Curry (played by Jason Momoa), would be featured in "Batman v. Superman," eventually setting up the monstrous "Justice League" movie that will be produced a few years down the line. The more characters that keep getting added are starting to make the "Batman V. Superman" film shaping into a "Justice League" feature itself.

It is unclear as to whether these new scripts will be for a solo Aquaman movie, or if the stories will be implemented into either "Batman v. Superman" or the "Justice League" movie.

Director Zack Snyder recently called a Detroit radio station after two overzealous disc jockeys were arguing that Aquaman is not the toughest guy in the DC Universe. The auteur addressed the Aquaman character as very fierce and formidable, adding that the character is most certainly a bad ass whose signature trident can even cut Superman's flesh. Snyder added that, it looks like we will have to play the waiting game and wonder if the King of Atlantis actually appears in the film in full Aquaman regalia.

"He's super strong, cause of course he can exist at these super deep depths. So when he comes up here he's crazy strong. Anyway, not to say he's in my movie or anything like that but he has the potential to be badass, that's all I'm saying," according to Snyder.

While Aquaman is not the most popular character in the DCU, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
