With Samsung keeping a tight lip until the launch of its Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones, fans had to resort to various rumors on the Web just to get the lowdown on the much-awaited flagships.

However, a listing from the Federal Communications Commission may finally provide consumers with the confirmation of the smartphones' existence that they have long been looking for.

The agency's OET Exhibits List features two entries related to Samsung using the model numbers SM-G930A and SM-G935A. It is believed that these numbers represent the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphone models respectively.

The listing also includes the devices' dual-band Wi-Fi certification, Bluetooth and Near Field Communication (NFC).

The FCC's approval of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge makes it more likely that the upcoming flagships will be released in time for Samsung's Unpacked Galaxy 2016 event scheduled for Feb. 21.

Internet rumors, however, suggest that both Galaxy devices will remain unavailable for purchase at least until the middle of March. The international release of the Galaxy S7 lineup won't happen until March 11, according to some claims.

Detailed specifications of Samsung's newest Galaxy smartphones have yet to be released to the public, but some of the rumors claim that the Galaxy S7 will sport a 5.1-inch capacitive touchscreen display while the Galaxy S7 edge will have a slightly bigger 5.5-inch display. They will also be able to support 2,560 x 1,440 Quad HD resolutions.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will also feature coating made from Corning Gorilla Glass, similar to the one used for the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5.

Versions of the smartphones for the U.S. and Chinese markets will be fitted with the Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm, while international versions will come with Samsung's very own octa-core Exynos 8890 processor.

As of the moment, Samsung has not announced pricing options for the two new smartphones. It is likely that they will be priced similarly to the Galaxy S6 when it was released in 2015. The wider curved display on the Galaxy S7 edge will also make it more expensive compared to the Galaxy S7.
