LEGO announced that there will be a new "Star Wars" television series on Disney XD, but the channel has already come out with a short on its YouTube page. Curiously, it has nothing to do with "LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures," but rather a supplement to "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and features X-Wing fighter pilot, Commander Poe Dameron.

The "LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises" short released on Monday is titled "Poe to the Rescue" and sees Commander Poe rescue a stranded C-3PO, after the protocol droid sent out a distress signal. Poe then reveals that his real mission is to rescue Admiral Ackbar from the hands of Captain Phasma before Kylo Ren gets his hands on him.

To get information on Admiral Ackbar's whereabouts from C-3PO, Poe reluctantly listens to the reason the droid is sporting a red arm that he apparently hates. The commander then instructs BB-8 to disguise their ship so it could enter the Starkiller Base and proceed with the rescue mission.

Aboard, Captain Phasma learns that Admiral Ackbar refuses to cooperate and would not divulge information on the Resistance's whereabouts. A brief confrontation between the two reveals that Kylo Ren is already on his way to the base.

"He's not as warm and cuddly as I am," Captain Phasma tells the Admiral.

Of course, Poe, C-3PO and BB-8 arrive before Kylo Ren, and the group manages to break the Admiral out of his cell - but not before the Admiral utters his memorable line "It's a trap!"- and ends up being pursued by Stormtroopers, as well as narrowly escaping a head-on collision with Kylo Ren, who just arrived at the base as they escaped.

Did they manage to get to safety? You'll have to find out for yourself below.

"Poe to the Rescue" is the first episode in a series of animated short films which serve as a prequel to "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which are all set before the First Order's attack on Jakku.

"Star Wars: Episode VIII" is slated for release in December 2017.
