In Marvel Comics' new International Iron Man, Tony Stark makes plans to leave his home in New York to travel across the world and take on international threats.

Marvel just released a first look at cover art and interior pages from International Iron Man #1, which shows Tony as he begins his globetrotting adventures.

"This March, ask yourself - who is Tony Stark, really?" inquires Marvel in an email press release. "Is he the superhero known as Iron Man? Is he the billionaire philanthropist genius? Or is he something more? Find out this March as the Eisner Award-winning creative team of Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev present a completely new take on the Armored Avenger!"

In this new ongoing series, Marvel teases that Tony will learn more about himself, the Marvel universe and the threats that face the modern world. He'll also make new friends and new enemies along the way.

After the title's initial announcement last year, Bendis discussed why it was time for Tony to leave his home in New York.

"If I was a villain, New York is the last place I'd attack, because you know, just by math, there are 700 superheroes in a 17-block radius," said Bendis to Entertainment Weekly in an interview. "I'd go anywhere else. We'll be dealing with some of the criminals in the Marvel universe who are smart enough to put that together in their head, finally. Tony's gonna be racing to help people that don't necessarily always get the attention of the Marvel superheroes."

Iron Man also gets an unlikely ally in International Iron Man in the form of Doctor Doom. Although it's an unlikely pairing, Tony will work with Doctor Doom, who has knowledge of things Tony doesn't know much about, such as where the world's biggest criminals and villains are and what they're up to.

In honor of Iron Man going global, Marvel will also translate the comic book for 25 different countries internationally, as well as print it in English for over 40 countries.

International Iron Man #1 lands on comic book shelves across the world on March 16.
