Samsung has teamed up with Whitepages to bring caller identification and anti-spam services to Galaxy S7 users.

"We are pleased to work with Samsung on one of the great issues currently impacting mobile users worldwide," said Whitepages CEO and founder Alex Algard, with the company noting that of the 300 million incoming calls that are being scanned monthly, more than 15 million are unwanted calls.

In December 2015, Whitepages released a report flagging a 35 percent growth in spam calls in 2015 compared to 2014, a problem which is growing worse due to lack of filters by carriers and the rise of communications platforms that have decreased the costs of making spam calls.

The caller identification feature coming to the Galaxy S7 will utilize Whitepages' database, which includes more than 600 million active landline and mobile phone numbers in the United States and more than 1.5 billion phone numbers across the world. Through this feature, Galaxy S7 users will know who is calling them, even if the number is not saved in the smartphone.

The anti-spam and spam detection feature, on the other hand, will show users information regarding possible unsolicited spam and spam calls coming in to the smartphone. The feature also has a spam button so that users can flag certain numbers as spam callers, which will be flagged by Whitepages and will help in preventing the same number from disturbing other users.

In addition to caller identification and anti-spam features, the partnership with Whitepages also adds a nearby business search feature to the Galaxy S7. Through a global database filled with local businesses, users will be able to search for nearby businesses that would cater to their wants and needs at any time.

The service will be rolled out to Galaxy S7 owners across 16 countries located in North America, South America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

Samsung has only lately officially unveiled the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge as the company's newest flagship smartphones. The devices are equipped with Quad HD Super AMOLED displays, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM.

The integration of caller identification and anti-spam features offered by Whitepages will only add to the appeal of the devices, which will be hitting the market on March 11.
