Remember Amazon's Dash Replenishment Service or DRS for short? Well, it now works with select Samsung printers and automatically reorders toner when the cartridges are running low on it.

The Dash option will be compatible with the SL-C430W, SL-C480FW, SL-M2835DW and SL-M2885FW models, all laser printers. What makes this service appealing is how it addresses the trouble of keeping tabs on the remaining toner, the hassle of going out to buy a refill or replacement and the inconvenience of having to take note of the printers' odd hard-to-memorize names.

"Amazon Dash Replenishment prevents the 'oh-no' moments of running out. A Samsung printer using Dash Replenishment automatically orders toner when it's needed, so customers don't have to think or worry about how much is left and they won't ever run out of the toner supplies needed to stay productive," Daniel Rausch, director of Amazon Devices, says.

Customers can go ahead and sign up for Amazon Dash Replenishment via the Samsung Mobile Print app or the Samsung Easy Printer Manager, where they'll be able to set what kind of toner will be automatically reordered and delivered there.

This collaboration between a prominent retailer and a high-profile technology company and the service they've brought to the table are definitely newsworthy, but it should be noted that Samsung isn't the first to get in on the action. Brands such as GE and Brother have already started to team up with Amazon, letting appliances such as washers and laser and inkjet printers to preorder detergent, toner or ink before they completely run out.

It's also worth mentioning that Brother has a more comprehensive list of compatible printers compared to Samsung's lineup, where it rolled out 45 models that work with Amazon Dash Replenishment.

More to the point, HP has already been offering Instant Ink, a service that delivers ink on a need-to-replace basis. Epson has also been providing refillable ink tanks. These two have been in the convenient-delivery game way before Amazon and Samsung's offer.

At any rate, this is great news for owners of Samsung printers. As Rausch suggests, customers will no longer have to worry or have their productivity put to a halt - for Samsung printer-related tasks, that is - with Amazon Dash Replenishment.
